Open Registration - Downtown Soccer Toronto

The city’s largest GLBTQ-positive soccer league is back this summer. And we're looking for some fresh faces! Downtown Soccer Toronto is a co-ed rec league aimed at providing an athletic and socially safe atmosphere for everyone – no matter what your gender, sexuality or soccer skill level. From 4-6pm, we will have OPEN registration (open to male, female and trans players). Fees for the season are $150, payable by cash or cheque. To ensure that everyone at the Open Registration event has an equal and fair chance at getting into the league, a "lottery" system will be used, which is outlined below. Registration will occur through a lottery format, see details below. For additional information visit http://www.downtownsoccertoronto.org From 4-5pm, tickets will be handed out along with registration forms. Each individual player will be given a numbered lottery ticket. If you wish to register with a "player bond" (someone who will be drafted to the same team as you), you have the option of being paired on ONE lottery ticket. In this case, either both of you get in or neither of you do. This lowers the chances that you will get into the league, but, eliminates the possibility that one of you gets in and the other does not. At 5pm, the lottery will begin, no further tickets will be handed out. In order to register, you MUST be present when your number is called. Only 1 registration allowed per ticket, 2 registrations allowed in the paired case described above. You will only be registered if payment is made in cheque/cash and the registration form is completed and signed. If the league reaches capacity (200 members), we will continue to call ticket numbers to start the waiting list. Members on the waiting list are invited to join the league as the season progresses. The online waiting list will open at 6:30pm after the conclusion of the registration event. VERY IMPORTANT: the waiting list starts empty! This means that if you were on our waiting list last year, or you joined our mailing list on the website, you will not be automatically placed on the waiting list for the 2012 season. To get on the waiting list for 2012, you have to either: attend the registration day on April 15th, or, join the waiting list on our website after 6:30pm on April 15th. Please note: While this process means that not every person who attends the Open Registration event will make it into the league, traditionally over 90% of attendees do make it into the league.
